The Fertile Kitchen: 6 Easy Steps to Revamp Your Nourishment

Curating a fertile kitchen takes patience, planning, routine, and lots of love. Similar to the process of tracking your fertility during the trying to conceive stages. It takes understanding what is nourishing and what is not. Just as you would treat your womb, it’s important to incorporate that same gentleness to a space you use everyday -  your kitchen.

Why the kitchen? Well womb health starts with the mind and ends with the body. Though we are focusing on the nourishment of the body for fertility, neither one is more important than the other. The key to understanding what that nourishment looks like is understanding what gut health looks like. Incorporating practices and foods that help keep your gut healthy and clean.

Easier said than done, I know, but allowing this article to be somewhat of a your guide will help filter out some of the confusion and bring you to a clearer understanding of what such health and nourishment looks like.

Here are 6 easy and simple steps to help you revamp your nourishment and aide your fertility in amazing ways!

  1. BROTH. Specifically bone broth. The benefits of this magical broth are endless. One of the best things we could do for our womb is to keep her hydrated with nutrient packed fluids. Bone Broth is an easy way to give your womb and your gut the vitamins that’s needed. Broth, specifically bone broth, is rich in iron and vitamin C. Next time try asking your local butcher for frozen bones (or maybe even keep some from that organic whole chicken you cooked last sunday) and adding it to water with lots of herbs, spices, and vinegar for an amazing, healing and warm broth you can sip on it’s on or can freeze and cook with in the future.
  2. Omega 3. What can I say? Protein rich in Omega 3’s have been studied to show that it increases quantity and quality during your fertility journey. The point of creating the best fertility journey is making sure you are producing the best quality eggs/embryo that you can. Try wild-caught salmon, walnuts, chia seeds, and spinach. The perfect dinner to cook with the intentions of healing and a fertile life one nice evening.
  3. Herbs & Spices. These are the backbone of an amazing fertility diet. Incorporating spices and herbs that heighten the benefits of the food you’re choosing will make your womb happy, happy, happy. Crowd favorites include tumeric, garlic, spirulina, wheatgrass, rosemary, ginger, and the list goes on. Throw these in your bone broth or on top of your favorite soup or salad. Maybe even a smoothie.

  1. Kitchenware. We can’t have a fertile kitchen without chatting about the utensils we use that can either help or harm our entire journey. We know how easily accessible those non-stick teflon pots and pans are but studies have show that when cooked at a high temperature, the non-stick begins to melt and ultimately contaminate our food. Leading to different types of exposure we want to keep away from ingesting. Try out stainless steel pots and pans. If you have the extra money to spare, copper would be even better. Copper helps to eliminate bacteria and has controlled heating which can make for great use when making something delicate like fertility and womb aiding sauces and broths. Copper utensils such as forks, spoons, cups, and measuring cups and spoons are great as well. You may also want to think about replacing your plastic containers and cups with for glass. Glass mason jars are amazing and you don’t risk contaminating your good with plastic packed with chemicals.
  2. EGGS (but no dairy). Good fat is what I call them. Organic eggs are an excellent source of protein and fat. They help us quite a bit with creating the best eggs we can produce by being packed with something called choline which helps with babies development all around. Try out your local farmers market or neighborhood market and health food store that sources nearby farms.
  3. LEAFY GREENS. These are your best friends, ever! They are packed with vitamin c, d, and e. Some are even packed with Omega 3’s! I always suggest one huge salad or serving of leafy greens a day. It helps your gut stay clear and a happy gut is a happy womb. Try out chard, kale, spinach, bok choy, and other dark greens. They are especially beneficial raw, but throw some bone broth in your new copper pan and saute them and you have a delicious side to go along with your wild-caught salmon. See!? I already gave you an idea for your first, completely fertility-aiding meal!

Curating a fertile kitchen doesn’t have to just stop here, but these are just some basics to get you on your way. Take a moment before you go shopping and create a list using a few of these tips and remember to eat intentionally. You are sure to feel it all shifting for you!

Fertility is an interesting journey. It is all about feeling and listening to your body. Knowing what you need and what you don’t. There is no one way, right or wrong, to go about it. But we all know that we could all use a little help. Remember, you are doing everything perfectly, just take care of you.
