Low iron can lead to extreme fatigue, hair loss, brittle nails, irritability, headaches, breathlessness and prolonged heavy menstrual cycles. During pregnancy it’s especially important to treat as pregnancy depletes nutrients from your body to provide for the baby you are growing. If a woman goes into labor with low iron she is at a higher chance for hemorrhaging during birth and her iron will be further depleted after birth.
